INVITATION

First Letter from

Dear Friends and Colleagues;

It took longer than anticipated but now finally I have composed the organization of the conference:

"Solar Energy for World Peace" ( www.solar4peace.org ) which will take place in Istanbul Convention Center ( http://www.icec.org/en/home_page  ) on the dates 17-18-19 of August 2013.

This idea originally was developed in many talks in Santa Barbara over the last years with my friends Walter Kohn and Alan Heeger, both of them supported such a topical conference in Istanbul. Many of our colleagues, friends and myself are thinking and acting against the nuclear energy related catastrophes and warfare ambitions and against the hegemony of fossil fuels in our human civilization. We have to reply with "solar energy for peace". As much as nuclear energy and fossil fuels are associated with catastrophes, wars and power politics, as much solar energy is correlated with a peaceful and clean and sustainable future.

Human society needs decentralized solar energy for realization of global democratization via energy autonomy.

This conference should bring the scientists of the world, especially from Middle East, North Africa and Sub Saharan Africa, where energy autonomy is of crucial importance for future peace and democracy. We shall create a highest level scientific and technological platform to exchange with specialists.

This will be a scientific and technical conference which will be dedicated to:

1.) Solar Energy Conversion to Heat (Solar Thermal)
2.) Solar Energy Conversion to Electricity (Solar Photovoltaic)
3.) Solar Energy Conversion to Chemicals (Solar Fuels)
4.) Storage and Transport Technologies of Solar Energy

The political aspect will be in the title and scope and we will invite all interested scientists to interact on these above listed topics.

There will be no political talks except possible opening statements and evening panel discussions.  We can pursue this goal of "Solar Energy for Peace" the best, when we progress  and disseminate our solar energy science and technology in the world.

There is also a large IUPAC World Chemistry conference just the days before (11-16 August 2013) at the same convention center (see www.iupac2013.org) with 4000 delegates expected. The organizers of that conference asked me to convey to you their invitation to attend also the IUPAC sessions.

We kindly ask you to distribute this message to all interested parties.

If outstanding scientists exchange knowledge and ideas, we can move things in a positive direction.

looking forward to your support for this meeting and

with my best regards from Linz

Second Letter from
Ord. Prof. Mag. Dr. DDr. h.c. Niyazi Serdar Sariciftci

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Our conference
"Solar Energy for World Peace" ( www.solar4peace.org )
which will take place in Istanbul Convention Center ( http://www.icec.org/ )
on the dates 17-18-19 of August 2013
is now ready for boarding and registering.

Thus I invite all interested parties to make their travel plans and visit the homepage of the conference ( www.solar4peace.org ) for registering. Early registering will pay off and it will help us to organize the conference better and estimate the finance for the scholarships. We will use all possible financial sources to create scholarships for scientists coming from Africa and Middle East.

Abstract submission is an important step to put the program together. The abstract submission deadline will be at the end of May 2013, however early submissions will also help us to arrange the programme.

For the hotel reservations: Everyone is advised to confirm the rooms as early as possible, since Istanbul is a very attractive touristic city. Choose the hotel from the list and send a reservation request to the organization using the "Accommodation" button in the homepage. For Invited Speakers we will make the reservations in direct communication with them.

Again I request your participation and support in this highest level technical conference with humanistic ideology and ask you all to distribute this information to your professional network.

with my best wishes for a healthy, happy new year 2013

Dear Friends and Colleagues;

Please find enclosed the updated A5 Brochure and the Sponsorship Booklet for our conference

on the dates 17-18-19 of August 2013.

I would like to ask you to distribute this print material to all members of your individual network to achieve the widespread of the information. If you need a print version of a poster or brochure of the conference, I will let the local organization company send it to you.

Especially we are encouraging our friends from the industrial research to consider the possibility of making an exhibition/sponsorship in this meeting. Together with IUPAC 2013, the exhibitors are going to use the same stand for both our conferences in a special package deal.

The participants of the IUPAC 2013 will also receive special rates for our conference to encourage them to continue to our meeting at the same site.

We will use all possible financial sources to create scholarships for scientists coming from Africa and Middle East and other parts who desparately need solar energy for peace and cannot afford to join the conference. Please visit the scholarship section of the homepage
"www.solar4peace.org" regularly to see the updates of funding sources and informations.

For the hotel reservations: Everyone is advised to confirm the rooms as early as possible, since Istanbul is a very attractive touristic city.
